Ellis Palmer and his New Lycra Suit
Ellis suffers from cerebral palsy and is unable to walk or sit unaided, and needs a lycra suit that would strengthen his movement and co-ordination. When he needed a new suit to accomodate growth BCGC was able to help. BCGC raised £1100 to provide a new lycra suit that straightens his body, giving him improved balance and muscle control.

Ellis' mother said 'With the help of the suit, which is enhanced with plastic and rubber splinting, Ellis is able to walk with a frame. The suit helps him to straighten out his body, giving improved balance and muscle control. This means Ellis no longer needs to be strapped into his seat at school or have someone next to him all the time in case he falls.'
'Ellis continues to astound us with his intelligence and optimism. He was born 15 weeks premature, so he would actually have been in the school year below. He goes to a normal primary school, St Joseph's in Upton and likes to get involved with a variety of activities.'
She added 'The lycra suits are made by a company in Australia and every year a representative comes over to run a clinic and take orders. The suits are made to measure and it is important to replace them to ensure they provide the correct support.'
Ellis found BGCG through his local newsagent in Upton. He called in at the shop everyday to buy sweets and talk with the owners. The shop has a Big Chance Lottery terminal and suggested that BCGC could be able to help him.
Jim Baxter, Head of Appeals at BCGC said 'It's a privelage to be able to support such a special little boy in his progress. Ellis deserves every chance to live life to the full.'
